Is the Algorithm the New False Prophet? How AI Is Replacing Scripture with Seduction
Discover how algorithms are shaping modern belief systems, distorting spiritual truth, and silently discipling millions away from God’s Word.
Is the algorithm the new false prophet? Are algorithms shaping new beliefs and forming new religions? How have your algorithm recommendations distorted the original teachings of your religion or spiritual philosophies?
Your algorithm knows you better than your pastor, your therapist, your friends, your spouse, your parents — and for many, it knows us better than we consciously know ourselves. It knows your likes and dislikes. What inspires you to watch longer and what triggers you to shut down. Its whole function is studying you and creating a psychological profile to manipulate your behavior into increasing the profits of those who pay to play.
“For the time will come when people will not tolerate sound doctrine, but… they will gather teachers to suit their own desires.” — 2 Timothy 4:3
Maybe you’re a Christian who has always been diligent in staying true to Biblical teachings — but the algorithm found a weak spot in your beliefs. In comes the charismatic preacher who twists the Biblical teachings to his own agenda — and you like, comment, share, and subscribe. This preacher now teaches you more hours every week than your Bible does.
This doesn’t only apply to Christians. Wherever your spiritual compass is pointing, there is a false prophet distorting the original teachings to put more money in their bank accounts. And the algorithm is subtly guiding you to the voices and teachings that will build the religion most profitable to the platform you are consuming information on.
The algorithm is working to replace God in your life. God guides you toward truth and redemption — the algorithm guides you toward confusion and addiction.
“You shall have no other gods before me.” — Exodus 20:3
The algorithm is not interested in helping you grow with new information — it is interested in feeding you more of what it already knows you like. When we stop searching and consume information based on recommendations, we get stuck in a little ‘belief bubble’ designed by AI. It is up to us to pop that bubble and continue to seek out new information. How can you choose to search for new information that is beyond the walls of your current ideologies?
When we allow ourselves to be stuck in these belief bubbles, it reshapes our brains, creating new subconscious programs. The part of our brain responsible for discernment begins to weaken. We become unconscious puppets of confirmation bias loops. We confine ourselves in echo chamber prisons that we can’t escape from.
“The way of a fool is right in his own eyes…” — Proverbs 12:15
We have come to a place where many are replacing wise counsel and scriptural doctrine with algorithmic consensus. Let’s face the facts — most people scroll much more than they pray. They look to people online to tell them what God wants for their lives, rather than praying to God and asking Him what His will is for their lives. Many modern Christians look to Christian influencers to hear what the Bible says instead of reading God’s Word for themselves.
There have been many times where I had been looking to get Biblical perspective on a certain subject on YouTube in the past — I would watch five different popular preachers and three of them interpret scripture differently from each other. How can we truly understand Biblical truth if we do not read the scripture ourselves and then pray to its Author for divine understanding?
Too many believers are being discipled by artificial intelligence and not the Holy Spirit. Have you made YouTube, Instagram, or TikTok your church?
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…” — Romans 12:2
Ever since his first deception in the Garden, the enemy always uses seduction to control you. The algorithm is no different. It softly lures you into confirmation bias loops and whispers to you: “You’re right. They’re wrong. You deserve this. You don’t need to change. They’re your enemy. These are your friends.”
The dangerous part is, oftentimes, these aren’t even lies — they are distorted truths. Satan is known as ‘The Father of Lies,’ but in fact he is a master at twisting truths. He uses the algorithm to keep you trapped in your ego, reacting to emotional triggers through fear, anger, and self-righteous indignation.
“For even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.” — 2 Corinthians 11:14
Your scroll habits reflect your spiritual barometer. Are you following what’s viral, or are you consciously seeking information that helps your soul evolve and grow?
The algorithm rewards that which is evil. You post a video that fuels outrage, lust, ego, tribalism, and conflict — it’s going viral. You post a video that teaches stillness, humility, reflection, and open-mindedness — it reaches the few who are already actively searching for it.
The algorithm is designed to reward the flesh, not the spirit. Because by being addicted to the flesh, it keeps you dependent on outside stimuli to feel good, self-important, and worthy.
If you truly connect to the Holy Spirit consistently enough, you will awaken to the reality that social media and video platforms have absolutely nothing to offer you. You know with certainty that you are whole and complete as you are in the stillness of God’s love. You don’t need external validation or more information — you are complete.
“The flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit… they are in conflict.” — Galatians 5:17
How can you spend less time being shaped by the algorithm? How can you maintain your sovereignty?
“Whatever is true, whatever is noble… think on these things.” — Philippians 4:8
Buy physical books. Make sure you own a physical copy of the main spiritual text that guides your life. If you can’t already tell, for me that is the Bible.
I am not here to tell you what to believe. I am not here to tell you Christian or Jewish belief is the only way. I am here to honor and respect you as you are. I am inviting you to get back to your spiritual roots, whatever that may be. Stop looking to online influencers to guide you spiritually — get back to the original text that your beliefs were built on.
“See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.” — Colossians 2:8
