Your Environment Is Programming You More Than You Realize
Why algorithms, outrage-driven headlines, and negative online environments are distorting human consciousness and disconnecting us from what matters most
As the chaos of the world distracts us from ourselves, we are becoming more of a collective dysfunctional family than we are sovereign beings, individually sharing our unique thoughts and talents to better serve the collective. We all possess something unique and special to offer the world — yet how can we truly know what that is when we allow newsfeeds and algorithms to constantly direct our attention toward that which serves the few?
Reality is constantly being created and shifted through consciousness. Whether you view this concept through the lens of metaphysics or psychological influence — it’s both — we are collectively shaping the world we experience together through our thoughts, feelings, and actions. These thoughts, feelings, and actions are influenced and directed by the information we consume, the environments we spend extended time in, the people we spend extended time with, and the words we allow to flow from our mouths.
Words are powerful tools for creation. The words we speak aloud affect the consciousness of others and our own. Empowering or unempowering self-talk will shift our thoughts, which will shift our emotions, which will then affect our actions. The same works for the words we direct toward another person.
It used to be that we were only personally affected by the audible words of another person directed toward us. Now, with the comment sections of social media, we are bombarded by people’s praise or judgement toward us. For some, we get hooked on seeking more praise — for others, we allow one hateful comment toward us to send us into a negative space for the rest of the day, or longer. There are many hateful trolls online — there are also many loving inspirers online.
We must learn to consciously protect the environments we spend extended time in — this is true for both our physical and online environments. Look at where you are spending your time — both online and in person — what kinds of people are there? Are these people positive and encouraging, or pessimistic and rude? Ask yourself if these people reflect the type of person you want to be? We become who we spend the most time with — this is true both in the physical world and online comment sections and chat rooms.
External stimulus triggers matching thoughts — thoughts trigger matching emotions — emotions influence matching actions.
The external stimulus you allow yourself to be exposed to repeatedly will shape who you ultimately become. Do not think you will remain the same. We are always changing. You are not who you were three years ago; you will not be who you are today three years in the future. Who you are today is the result of the external stimuli you have been exposed to the most over the years. Design your environments today to reflect who you wish to become tomorrow.
There are literally only two places I go to online now, unless I need to book travel — that’s YouTube (even though I know Rumble is a better option) and Substack. I find it annoying that every time I go onto the Substack app, the first page shows me several headlines — all the war and political drama; never anything positive going on in the world. I am well aware there is war happening. I am well aware that the President of the U.S. is making controversial decisions. I don’t need to be reminded every day. When you see these headlines that always take precedence, you would think there is absolutely no good happening in the world — but guess what — there is a lot of good happening in the world, we just don’t hear about it unless we are actively searching for it.
It is important to be informed about what is happening in the world. However, it is unhealthy and unproductive to spend excessive amounts of time every day reading and watching news about it. It is not useful to consume excessive information about any negative situations that are happening when we can do nothing to help the situation. It is much healthier to check in, get some quick updates, and then move on toward being productive and researching how to add more value to the world.
When we overconsume news about current affairs, we are being fed constant information that naturally fuels fear, anger, and rage — unless you’re a sociopath.
How does filling your mind and emotional body with fear and anger serve you? How is this subconsciously affecting your thoughts, words, and actions? Is this helping you add value to the world? Or are you unwittingly adding to the problems?
We have no control over the actions of other people — only over ourselves. Each and every decision we make is affecting our thoughts, emotions, and actions — these are what we are contributing to the collective consciousness. As you live your everyday life, whether you intend to be or not, you are either choosing to be part of the world’s problems or solutions.
To be part of the world’s solutions, we must not allow ourselves to become vessels and beacons of fear, anger, and hatred. We are all frequency — Quantum Science clearly shows this. You are either fueling hatred and war throughout the collective consciousness of humanity — or you are counter-balancing by encompassing peace, love, gratitude, and good will.
